The pedestrian walkway over the railway line was recently replaced by Irish Rail; Stronghold Preservation were employed to anchor the new bed stones to the existing piers using
Cintec Anchors during a night-time road and track possession.
Cintec anchors were used in this instance as the anchors are diamond drilled, the sock anchors installed, and grout injected into the socks, providing a mechanical bond. It was assumed that there would be large voids in the stone work, into which traditional loose grout would disappear into, and therefore not provide a secure bond.

The Ladies Stairs is a pedestrian footbridge which crosses the
main Belfast - Dublin railway line, and runs to the north east of
Ardgillan Castle. The bridge is so named due to reports that the
ghostly figure of a Lady is seen here.
